Nurturing Nature. The other side of Sustainability.
We continue to ensure that not only are our products supportive, sustainable and only filled with good stuff, but our supply chain is too.
We continue to ensure that not only are our products supportive, sustainable and only filled with good stuff, but our supply chain is too.
We believe in creating products that are as kind to the planet as they are to our dogs. This means more than just using organic ingredients or sustainable packaging. It's about building a supply chain that reflects our values and building long term relationships with our suppliers. These relationships are as foundational to our business as our customers are.
We know that what we decide to implement for our brand and then pass on to our suppliers will, of course, ultimately effect their suppliers. Some of these are small family owned businesses dyeing their own cottons, small coco plantation owners that are part of a cooperative or sheep farmers here in the U.K. whose family have been farming the countryside for generations.
These growers, makers, farmers, dyers, seamstresses and master ropemakers know what their time is worth and they know how much they put into there raw materials. So from the birth of our brand, we took the view that it‘s the suppliers product and so it must be the suppliers pricing.
We also took the view that whilst discounts, giveaways and Black Friday deals save the consumer a few pounds and push sales up, the effect of that as a whole further down the supply chain line is not always positive.
We wanted to base our relationships on respect and trust not price squeezes and onerous timescales. That has the beautiful effect of creating a business that has a large extended family all pulling in the same direction. Whilst we thought that was how business was always conducted we have come to realise that, like our products, we are in a select space of on this.
We enjoy regular meet-ups with our U.K based suppliers. Whether it’s our wonderful sheep farmer Mark and his truly terrific son, or Chris and the team who make our coir or Neil and Tony who supply us with our carded wool.
We cherish all of them.
One of our regular supplier meet-ups is with Chatham Historic Dockyard Ropery. Visiting Alex, Leanne and the boys allows us an opportunity to explore designs, materials and any new developments. However it‘s when conversations spread to other horizons that the true magic of a business relationship can happen and a deeper understanding and appreciation develops over time of each others challenges, experiences and aspirations. There, right there, is gold.
That’s when things take a turn to something even more rewarding.
We're not naive; we know the importance of good business sense. But for us, business is about more than the bottom line. It's about creating a positive impact.
It is also about enjoying what we are creating.
By treating our suppliers fairly, we're not just supporting individuals and communities; we're also ensuring the long-term sustainability of our industry, preserving traditional skills and loving doing it.
We continue to ensure that not only are our orthopaedic dog beds supportive, sustainable and only filled with good stuff, but our supply chain is too.
It’s simple: quality in, quality out. We won’t sacrifice our standards for greed. Dogs deserve the best we can offer. So do the people around us, our suppliers and the planet.
Join us in the revolution for a better future for dogs, people and the planet.
