Beat the Heat

Ah, the joy of a hot British summer. Whilst some revel in it, others, including our pets do not. Heatwaves across the world, once rare occurrences, are becoming increasingly frequent and intense, posing significant challenges to our dogs' well-being. Beyond the immediate discomfort, these soaring temperatures can profoundly impact their sleep quality. Just like humans, dogs have a natural sleep cycle influenced by their body temperature. When the mercury rises, their bodies work overtime to regulate their thermal balance, often disrupting sleep patterns,  leading to restlessness, irritability, and decreased energy levels.

Create an Oasis

To ensure your dog has the best chance of having a good nights sleep and also rest sufficiently well during the day, here are some easy tips for you to help your dog:

  • A breath of fresh air: Ensure proper ventilation in your dog's sleep area. Doors and windows open wherever safe and appropriate.
  • Cool and calm: Create a serene environment by minimising disturbances. Closing curtains, put a fan on and take collars off when safe to do so.
  • Hydration station: Always provide fresh, cool water, preferably filtered or mineral.
  • Bedtime routine: Establish a consistent sleep schedule for your dog.

A New Sanctuary

At Hixx, we believe in harnessing nature's power to create a naturally healthy environment for your dogs. Our focus is on providing temperature regulating, orthopedic sleep solutions that allow your dog to thrive, even in the most challenging seasons.

Because we have always understood the importance of quality sleep and the healing that comes from that, we knew our beds had to be thermoregulating. One of the main complaints about all foams, including memory foam, is that it gets very hot. With a host of studies showing that a cool body is necessary for optimal sleep, we went in search for materials that would ensure that a dog lying on one of our beds would be kept at a comfortable temperature.

That’s why, when it comes to beds, we have used the holy trinity of materials. Latex, coconut fibre and organic British wool. They provide exceptional cooling properties, ensuring your dog stays comfortable even on the hottest days.

These naturally work in harmony to create the perfect natural dog bed. Latex provides exceptional support and breathability, while coconut fibres benefit from a very open weave allowing air to pass through the dog bed and thereby cooling and removing moisture. To top the bed off we have used Mother Natures Super Fibre, organic wool. It also regulates temperature, drawing heat away from your dog's body and is moisture wicking which keeps your dog dry. Additionally, it is hypoallergenic and anti bacterial which means the growth of odour causing bacteria is inhibited whilst being a great choice for dogs that are sensitive to dust mites and allergens. By creating a cooler sleep area in the summer and a warmer one in the winter, your dog’s body will remain at a consistently healthy temperature and support their over all health and well being.

We are driven to changing the way our dogs are cared for by providing accessories that are only made of Nature. It isn’t just about buying a product, we feel people want more and understand more than ever the consequences to our health and environment when buying non sustainable and non natural products. By choosing Hixx you are casting a vote for Mother Nature, for sustainability and for the health of your dog.

Let’s rewrite the rules together.
